A New Beginning for
Our Community
Our school name Muyan (pronounced “Moo-yun”) is a Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung language word meaning “Silver Wattle”.
The Muyan, or Silver Wattle, has long been of deep importance to the Wurundjeri people.
Every part of the plant was used – seeds, pods, gum, bark, wood and roots – for food, medicine, tools and community life.
